Everything we make is for someone. We start with the people who'll use the software — how they work, what gets in their way — and let the technology follow.
Popolux is a small studio that designs and builds software. We work with entrepreneurs, educators, and engineers who have a real problem to solve — and we build the thing that solves it, clearly and carefully, with the people who'll use it in mind.
People + light. That's the whole idea.
Everything we make is for someone. We start with the people who'll use the software — how they work, what gets in their way — and let the technology follow.
We work in the open and aim for clarity — clear thinking, clear design, clear code, and plain-spoken conversations with the people we build for.
How to say it: three easy syllables, stress on the first — POH-poh-lux, like the start of “poem.” Not “pop.”
Look closely at our logo: the u and x carry a little extra weight. That's on purpose. User experience is at the center of everything we build.
Sometimes that's a brand-new product. Sometimes it's the tool that finally makes an old process work. Either way, we stay with it from the first conversation through launch and beyond.
We start by listening. We learn how your people work today, where it hurts, and what “better” would actually look like.
We shape the product with you — flows, interfaces, and prototypes you can put in front of real users before a line of production code.
We engineer, launch, and keep improving: web and mobile apps, platforms, and the plumbing that holds them together.
Founders turning an idea into a first product — or a first product into a business.
Schools and learning teams who need tools built around teachers and students, not the other way around.
Technical teams who need an experienced extra set of hands, or a partner to take a whole piece off their plate.
Popolux started in Cleveland as a small development studio with a simple conviction: the best software is built close to the people who use it.
Since then we've worked alongside founders, educators, and engineering teams — taking products from first sketch to launch, and helping one all the way through to acquisition.
Along the way we learned what we're good at: understanding a problem deeply, designing something clear, and building it to last. That's still the whole job. Today we build with partners and on products of our own, which keeps us honest about what it really takes.
“Every project starts with a person and a problem. Our job is to shed some light on both.”
Three habits we don't compromise on.
We pick tools to fit the problem, never the other way around.
Plain language, honest estimates, readable code. No black boxes.
Get something real in front of users early, then make it better, week after week.
Tell us about it. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right studio for the job — and if we're not, who might be.
